So, back in lockdown I was watching the fires rage in Australia, migranbts drowning in the English Channel and Covid sweep the world. There seemed to be an underlying theme suffoction so I wrote a short rant and sent it to a friend of mine, Mark Christopher Lee, who has a band called the Pocket Gods. Much to my surprise they recorded it as is and put it out as a single.
Interesting aside. In Inside the Pirory of SIon (published 2012) I included the following prediction was rumoured to be the actual thrrd secret of Fatmia:
Proteus - apparently it's The Thing on an oil rig, but pants.
I love film and TV but they are difficult mediums to write for as they require coniderable outside investment to get anything made. I have outlines written for two documentary series, a three part science fiction drama and TV drama series.
Many years ago I worked on scripts for a number of films uncredited that either appeared as low budget straight-to-DVD or sank wihtout trace.
Initially I got involved in screenwriting via the author Harry Adam Knight (the pulp horror pseudonym for sci-fi author John Brosnan). He asked me to rewrite his script for a book he's written called Proteus. I did a full re-write which the author liked but the script then went to a production company and was apparently rewritten so many times that only a few minutes of my work made it to screen. I've never seen the film so cannot confirm nor deny this.
The process taught me an invaluable lesson about writing:
If you want to write for film or television you have to accept that your work will be 'changed' by others. If you want to be precious about your writing - stick to writing books.
The good news is, as of 2024, I have a film script in circulation that is gaining some traction. We have producers and a production company on board and my script has been well recieved. I can't say any more on this project at present but as soon as it moves forward I'll update this page.
